How Agropod Works
From field activity to trusted evidence.
Agropod provides a structured process for documenting agricultural practices, measuring outcomes, evaluating evidence, and tracing environmental attributes through the supply chain.
Every engagement begins with the claim, not the technology.
STEP 1
Define the Claim
Before collecting additional data, we clarify exactly what the evidence must support.
Examples include
A cover crop was planted on a specific field. A management practice changed during a defined reporting period. Soil organic carbon changed relative to a baseline. Nitrogen-use efficiency improved. A commodity was produced using specified practices. An environmental attribute can be traced to a delivery. A carbon-intensity calculation is supported by documented agricultural records.
For each claim, we define
Intended user, geographic boundary, reporting period, baseline, measurement unit, evidence requirements, applicable methodology, and desired level of assurance.
STEP 2
Co-Design the Evidence Plan
We work with the people who produce, use, and evaluate the evidence.
Depending on the project, participants may include farmers, crop advisors, agronomists, program operators, soil and laboratory specialists, technology providers, agricultural buyers, supply-chain partners, and independent assurance providers.
Together, we identify evidence that is scientifically meaningful, operationally practical, and appropriate for the intended claim.
STEP 3
Document Practices
Participating farmers and advisors provide records relevant to the selected outcome.
These may include field boundaries, crop and rotation history, tillage records, cover-crop records, fertilizer type, rate, timing, and placement, irrigation records, planting and harvest dates, yield records, fuel and energy use, and supporting invoices or machinery records.
Agropod records where each item came from and how it may be used.
STEP 4
Integrate Measurements and Observations
The platform connects field records with available scientific and observational evidence.
This may include soil-test results, laboratory measurements, soil moisture, water infiltration, nutrient measurements, weather data, satellite observations, drone imagery, machinery and precision-agriculture data, and delivery and transaction records.
No single source is assumed to tell the entire story.
STEP 5
Measure the Outcome
Agropod applies the selected methodology to calculate or evaluate the relevant indicator.
The measurement process documents input data, data transformations, calculation methods, model versions, assumptions, missing values, system boundaries, uncertainty, and limitations.
When a result is estimated rather than directly measured, the distinction is clearly stated.
STEP 6
Review the Evidence
Agropod evaluates whether the evidence is complete, consistent, and appropriate for the intended claim.
The review may identify missing documentation, conflicting records, unusual or implausible values, mismatches between field and delivery records, incomplete chain of custody, model inputs requiring clarification, and claims that exceed the available evidence.
Issues are documented rather than hidden. Where possible, participants may correct records or provide additional evidence.
STEP 7
Trace the Attribute
After the evidence has been evaluated, Agropod connects the supported practice or outcome to the relevant agricultural unit.
Farmer → Farm → Field → Crop → Harvest → Delivery → Buyer → Claim
The appropriate traceability method depends on how commodities are handled. Identity preservation may be possible in some systems, while aggregation may require mass-balance accounting in others.
STEP 8
Prepare the Report
Agropod produces a transparent record of what was evaluated and what the evidence supports.
A report may include claim and scope, participating farms and fields, measurement period, evidence sources, methods and calculations, data-quality findings, outcome indicators, uncertainty and limitations, exceptions, traceability documentation, and readiness for independent review.
STEP 9
Support Independent Assurance
When a customer, program, or regulation requires formal third-party assurance, Agropod can organize the evidence for review by an appropriately qualified independent verifier.
Agropod does not represent verification readiness as equivalent to independent verification. The independent reviewer is responsible for determining whether the claim satisfies the applicable assurance requirements.
