Credible outcomes require credible data relationships.
Measurement and verification depend on information contributed by farmers, advisors, laboratories, platforms, buyers, and program operators. Agropod helps establish clear rules for how those data are collected, accessed, used, shared, corrected, retained, and removed.

Verification should not require farmers to surrender control without understanding what will happen to their information.
Data governance is not simply a privacy notice. It is the system of roles, permissions, responsibilities, and procedures that determines how agricultural information is managed throughout its lifecycle.

Clear Purpose
Every material data request should have a defined purpose connected to an identified service, claim, or program.
Data Minimization
Programs should avoid collecting information that is not reasonably necessary for the intended purpose.
Informed Participation
Participants should receive understandable information about data collection, access, sharing, and use.
Role-Based Access
Users should receive only the access required for their responsibilities.
Provenance
The source, date, method, and version of material evidence should be recorded.
Accuracy and Correction
Participants should have an appropriate process for reviewing and correcting inaccurate information.
Security
Reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards should protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss.
Retention Limits
Records should not be retained indefinitely without a legitimate contractual, legal, operational, or assurance purpose.
Portability
Where feasible and permitted, participants should be able to obtain relevant records in a commonly usable format.
Transparency About Models
Agropod should identify when information is used in calculations, predictive models, automated systems, or model development.
Human Review
Material exceptions and contested decisions should have a process for human review.
Questions Every Program Should Answer
Before enrolling participants, an agricultural data program should be able to explain:
Who is collecting the information? Which information is required? Why is each category needed? Who owns or controls the original records? Who can access submitted information? Which service providers process the data? Will information be shared with buyers? Will information be aggregated? Will information be used to train models? How long will records be retained? How can participants correct errors? Can participants withdraw? Which information must remain for audit or legal purposes? Can records be exported? How are disputes resolved?
Data Categories
Agropod may process different categories depending on the customer agreement and program design.
These may include identity and contact information, farm and field information, agricultural practices, input and application records, soil and laboratory information, sensor and machinery data, geospatial information, satellite and drone observations, crop and yield records, delivery and transaction information, program participation records, and platform usage and technical information.
Not every program requires every category.
Data Access
Access may be granted to authorized Agropod personnel, participating farmers and advisors, customer program administrators, contracted technical providers, laboratories, agricultural buyers, independent reviewers or verifiers, and legal or regulatory authorities where required.
Access should be defined contractually and technically, rather than assumed.
Aggregated and De-Identified Information
Agropod may use aggregated or de-identified information where permitted by the applicable agreement and law.
The relevant agreement should explain the purpose of aggregation; whether participation is optional; whether outputs may be commercialized; whether results may be published; whether records could reasonably be reidentified; and how benefits and risks are managed.
AI and Model Development
Agropod will not assume that enrollment in an agricultural program automatically authorizes unrestricted use of participant data for AI training.
Where data may be used for model development, participants or customers should receive information about the categories of data involved; the model-development purpose; whether data will be de-identified; whether third parties are involved; whether model outputs may be commercialized; available consent or opt-out choices; and applicable contractual restrictions.
Farmer Requests
Subject to applicable law and contractual requirements, farmers may be able to request access to participating records; correction of inaccurate records; information about data use; a copy of relevant records; restriction of certain optional uses; deletion of information that is no longer required; and withdrawal from future optional processing.
Some records may need to be retained for legal, contractual, security, payment, or verification purposes.
